Final tour by Namie Amuro| March 17-18

Namie Amuro, a leading figure of the Japanese entertainment industry since the early 90s, will give two concerts of her Final Tour 2018 in Shenzhen this weekend.

Amuro is known for breaking the youthful idol stereotype with her experimentation with different music styles in Japan and throughout the Western world, as well as visual imagery in music videos and on stage. Due to her longevity and resilience within the industry, she is referred to as the “Queen of Japanese Pop” and has constantly been recognized as the Japanese equivalent of leading Western artists such as Madonna and Janet Jackson.

Having sold more than 38 million records in Japan alone, Amuro is one of the best-selling artists in Japan. She has been noted for her work at several award ceremonies, including being a recipient at the World Music Awards, Japan Record Awards and Japan Gold Disc Awards, among many others. On Sept. 20, 2017, Amuro’s 40th birthday, she announced that she would retire from the music industry in September 2018. Her final album, a greatest hits compilation titled “Finally,” was released Nov. 8, 2017 with new recordings and re-recordings from all her selected singles. On Feb. 11, “Hope” was released as a digital-only single and marked the final stage of the singer’s career.
