How to get to HK Airport from SZ?

Because of the relatively cheap price and variety of international flights, Hong Kong International Airport is the first choice for many passengers.

Shenzhen is contiguous to Hong Kong, therefore many Shenzhen citizens choose Hong Kong International Airport when travelling.

So, what is the fastest way to Hong Kong International Airport from Shenzhen? What is the cheapest way?

Luohu Checkpoint→Hong Kong International Airport

By bus

1.After going through Luohu Checkpoint, you can take the East Rail Line and get off at the first station Sheung Shui Station (上水站) (Octopus: HKD24, adult single journey ticket: HKD25).

Then take bus A43 (HKD30.9) to Hong Kong International Airport, which arrives at 20-minute intervals.

Time: about 1 h and 30 minutes

Cost: If you have an Octopus card: HKD54.9

- If not: HKD55.9

2.After going through the checkpoint, you can take the East Rail Line and get off at the fourth station, which is Tai Po Market Station (大埔墟) (Octopus: HKD26.2, Adult single journey ticket: HKD27), which takes about 15 minutes.

Then take bus E41 to Hong Kong International Airport (When you get off at the train station, go to the urban district on the left, cross under the bridge and go straight, then take bus E41 (HKD13.9) which is located under the distant pedestrian bridge, which takes about 15 minutes).

Time: about 2 h and 30 minutes

Cost: - If you have an Octopus card: HKD40.1

- If not: HKD40.9

By Metro

There is no direct metro line, so you have to transfer four times.

Take the East Rail Line at Luohu Port and get off at Kowloon Tong Station (九龙塘).

Transfer to Kwun Tong Line and get off at Price Edward Station (太子站).

Transfer to Tsuen Wan Line and get off at Lai King Station (荔景站).

Transfer to Tung Chung Line and get off at Tsing Yi Station (青衣站).

Transfer to Airport Express and get off at the last station, which is Airport Station (机场站).

Time: about 1 h and 30 minutes

Cost: - If you have an Octopus card: HKD60

- If not: HKD107.5

Huanggang Checkpoint→ Hong Kong International Airport

By mini passenger van (seven seats)

After crossing Huanggang Checkpoint, you can take the mini passenger van. What is really convenient is that you do not need to get out of the van to go through Hong Kong Customs.

Time: about 40 – 50 minutes

Cost: 120 – 150 yuan

Features: This is faster but with a high price, and you don't need to get out of the van to go through Hong Kong Customs.

By bus

After passing Huanggang Checkpoint, you can take huangba (HKD10) or bus 79 (HKD7), and get off at Yuen Long Plaza.

Cross the road to take bus E34B (HKD13.9) to the airport.

Time: about 1 h and 30 minutes

Cost: HKD30.9 or HKD27.9

Features: This one is cheaper with competitive pricing.

By cross-boundary bus

After you pass customs, you can buy tickets on your left.

Time: about 1 h and 30 minutes

Cost: 100 yuan

Features: This one is more expensive, but you don’t need to transfer to take the next form of transportation.

Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint→ Hong Kong International Airport

By taxi

Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint offers both Hong Kong and Shenzhen immigration inspection services.

Also, passenger cars are offered “one-stop” service, which means passengers can receive their inspection without getting out of the car.

Moreover, taxis in Hong Kong can carry up to 5 people each trip, so if you go to Hong Kong with several friends, carpooling with them is quite economical.

Time: about 40-50 minutes

Cost: 300 yuan

Features: Taking taxis on your own can save you time but at high cost, while sharing one with your pals can not only save time but also reduce your expenses.

By bus

1.After passing Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, you first need to take bus B3 (HKD11) to Tuen Mun Town Centre Station (屯门中心站) then get off to transfer to bus E33 (HKD13.9) to Hong Kong International Airport.

Time: about 75 minutes

Cost: HKD24.9

Features: This route is relatively cheap, but may leave you vulnerable to traffic jams.

2.First take bus B2 to Tin Shui Wai Police Station for HKD12, then take E34 at the opposite station to Hong Kong International Airport with HKD13.9.

Time: about 75 minutes

Cost: HKD25.9

Features: This route is the cheapest one, but may leave you vulnerable to traffic jams.

By cross-boundary bus

Once you arrive at Shenzhen Bay, you can easily find the ticket office where cross-boundary bus tickets are sold. Buy your ticket before you enter the clearance hall.

Tickets are only available for the day of purchase, but you can choose a convenient time on that day. After crossing the checkpoint, you should find your bus according to the number labeled at each station.

Time: about 1 hour and 30 minutes

Cost: HKD100

Features: This route is relatively expensive, but saves you the trouble of transferring.

By mini-van

Alternatively, you can take a mini-van, which carries 7 people at most, directly to Hong Kong International Airport from Futian Bus Station for 150 yuan per person. Between 6:30 a.m to 2:10 p.m., a mini-van leaves every 20 minutes. While from 2:10 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the van leaves 10 minutes and 30 minutes after the hour every hour, e.g. 2:10 p.m.; 2:30 p.m.; 3:10 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: about one and a half hour

Cost: 150 yuan

Features: Goes to Hong Kong International Airport directly without stops.

Downside: The van won’t depart until all the seats are full and may leave you vulnerable to traffic jams.

Futian Checkpoint→Hong Kong International Airport

By bus

If you set off from Futian Checkpoint, you can take East Rail Line to Sheung Shui Station (Octopus: HKD24, adult single journey ticket: HKD25), then transfer to Bus A43 (HKD30.9) to Hong Kong International Airport.

Time: about 2 hours

Cost: about HKD55.9

Features: You will spend less money on this route, but more time.

Metro

After crossing the checkpoint, you first need to take East Rail Line at Lok Ma Chau Station to Hung Hom Station.

Then you need to transfer to West Rail Line to go to Nam Cheong Station.

After getting off at Nam Cheong Station, you need to take Tung Chung Line to Tsing Yi Station and then transfer to Airport Express.

Time: about 84 minutes

Cost: One-way : HKD107.5, Octopus: HKD60

Features: You can have better control of your schedule by taking the metro to the airport, but the cost of this route is higher than others.

Wenjindu Checkpoint→Hong Kong International Airport

By Bus

After crossing Wenjindu Checkpoint, you need to take bus 73K (HKD4.3) to Sheung Shui Station. Then transfer to bus A43 (HKD30.9) which will take about 1 hour to reach the airport.

Cost: HKD35.2

By express

Cost: 80 yuan

Features: Relatively fast getting through customs, and no stops during the journey.

Sha Toujiao Checkpoint→ Hong Kong International Airport

First, after you pass the Sha Toujiao Checkpoint take a bus to Landmark North (上水廣塲). Second, take bus A43 (HKD30.9) at the same station to the airport.

Shekou Checkpoint→ Hong Kong International Airport

Take a ferry at the Shekou Prince Bay Cruise Homeport to reach Hong Kong International Airport directly.

Time: about 30 minutes

Adult: 260 yuan

Kids: 170 yuan
