Two more trains and a charter flight will be added from Shenzhen to Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region this year, according to a press conference on the promotion of the tourism industry in Xinjiang’s scenic southwestern prefecture in Shenzhen on Friday.
More than 200 people, including government officials and representatives of major travel agencies in Shenzhen and Kashgar, attended the conference. Exotic performances of Tajik folk dance were staged at the conference.
The planned charter flight and train trips will bring convenience to Shenzheners who want to visit Xinjiang and boost Kashgar’s tourism industry, sznews.com quoted Song Pei, a Shenzhen official now based in Xinjiang to serve at the general affairs section aiding the region, as saying in its Sunday report.
The first tourism train linking Shenzhen and Kashgar was launched last September. Over 500 Shenzhen tourists embarked on their journey to Xinjiang on Sept. 18, 2017, and enjoyed a 16-day Silk Road train tour.
Yang Yongqun, deputy director of Shenzhen’s culture, sports and tourism bureau, said Shenzhen, as the city offering aid to Kashgar, has brought significant revenue to Kashgar’s tourism industry in recent years.
In the future, according to Yang, the two regions will develop even closer ties in tourism and create more opportunities for people from both places to communicate.
Song Shu’an, vice mayor of Kashgar, said at the conference that since Shenzhen started aiding Kashgar and Tajik Autonomous County of Taxkorgan eight years ago, the city has been making tremendous contributions to the development of Xinjiang in many respects.
A round-table seminar was organized during the conference so representatives from both areas could discuss hot topics, such as whether it is safe to travel to Xinjiang and which parts of the region have the most unique tourism resources.
Located at the center of the Silk Road core economic region, Kashgar is a key junction in northwestern China with abundant tourism resources in its unique culture and diverse landscape.
