SHENZHEN will construct at least 1,000 kilometers of bike lanes across the city by the end of 2020, according to a three-year construction plan that has been approved by the city government for implementation.

All new and renovated roads will be equipped with independent bicycle lanes, according to the plan.

According to the timetable, at least 200 kilometers will be completed in 2018, 300 kilometers in 2019 and 500 kilometers in 2020.

The plan also unveiled a guidance on the management of shared bikes. A monitoring system jointly managed by bike operators and government agencies will be established. An assessment system on the service and management of shared-bike companies will be established and an assessment of the development of shared bikes in Shenzhen will be conducted periodically.

This year, at least 8,000 parking locations for shared bikes will be set up.
