Twenty days after opening for business, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has carried out its first operation using the DSA (digital subtraction angiography) technique, sznews.com reported yesterday.
The operation was performed by Du Zhimin, a famous medical expert in interventional therapy. Conducting such an operation requires the hospital to have qualifications and meet regulations for the use of radiologic technology, pass the evaluation of radiologic protection and employ professionals in the field.
On May 10, the hospital was approved for a radiologic diagnosis and radiotherapy license. Twenty days later, it successfully carried out its first coronary angiography operation.
It is said that DSA is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, while coronary angiography is the gold standard for the diagnosis of coronary heart disease, which can provide a precise basis for further medical treatment.
The operation also shows that the hospital is able to carry out a series of interventional therapies for coronary heart disease, structural heart disease, pacemaker implantation, radiofrequency therapy and more.
