Checking-in with facial recognition, tours guided by robots, automatic lights, air-conditioners, TVs and curtains — all of these high technologies seem to only be offered in downtown luxury hotel suites, but the Graduates Home in Futian District recently opened a smart hotel featuring these technologies for fresh college graduates seeking jobs in Shenzhen, for free.

Leyizhu Smart Hotel was opened in Bagualing, Futian District, on June 14. As a not-for-profit government project, the hotel, part of the Futian Grads Home, provides free accommodation for up to seven days to young college graduates.

A graduate from Foshan City surnamed Chen said he was excited to start a new life in “such a warm city” after staying in the hotel for seven days.

Over 260 graduates from universities around the country have stayed in the hotel. Eligible applicants can submit their applications online via public WeChat accounts “Leyizhu” (乐易住) or “Futian Qingnian” (福田青年). Those who are accepted will also enjoy a free career guidance service.

During the first month it was open, the hotel offered all 24 of its rooms for free, and it will continue to keep three rooms available for free accommodations for its first year.

Xiang Jiayou, deputy director of the organization department of the Futian committee of the CPC, said the Grads Home is not only a temporary residence for newcomers, but also a home for those who move to Shenzhen.

“The Grads Home will attract young talents to stay in Shenzhen with its innovation and quality services, while also helping newcomers feel at home,” said Xiong.
