National book fair set for July 19-22

The 28th National Book Fair will be held in Shenzhen between July 19 and 22 exhibiting 200,000 books at its main venue, the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, sources from the organizer Shenzhen Publishing and Circulation Group said.

The main venue will be a 50,000-square-meter exhibition area in Hall 1, 2 and 5, and books at the fair will be sold at a discount of 20 percent off.

The five subvenues located in five bookstores of Shenzhen Publishing and Circulation Group will also offer exhibition areas totaling 50,000 square meters. The Book City Luohu store will mainly exhibit books on humanities and social sciences. The Book City Nanshan store will feature books and literature for minors. Bao’an has set a target of turning the fair into a reading carnival, while the Book City Longgang store, as the first intelligence-based Book City, will hold the Intelligence and Book Industry Development Forum.

The book fair in Shenzhen coincides with the 29th Hong Kong Book Fair, an influential book fair in Asia that will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. The book fair in Hong Kong will see 680 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions.

The organizer will run shuttle buses between Shenzhen and Hong Kong to facilitate the transport of visitors to Shenzhen during the book fair seminar on the 30th anniversary of cross-Straits exchanges in the publishing industry.
