The Clarinotts
Daniel and Andreas Ottensamer, the two sons of late Austrian classical clarinetist Ernst Ottensamer (1955-2017), will perform a concert to commemorate their father in Shenzhen. Pianist Christoph Traxler will accompany their performances.
The program will be Mozart’s “Trio in E-flat Major, Kegelstatt Trio K. 498, for Clarinet, Basset-horn and Piano,” Prinz’s “Discussion for Two Clarinets,” Horovitz/Shaw’s “Interlude,” Crusell’s “Andante and Allegro Vivace for Two Clarinets and Piano,” Baermann’s “Duo Concertant for Two Clarinets and Piano,” Bernstein’s “Sonata for Clarinet and Piano,” Bruch’s three pieces from “Eight Pieces for Clarinet, Basset-horn and Piano, Op. 83” and Abreu’s “Tico Tico for 2 Clarinets and Piano.”
Daniel became co-principal clarinetist with the Vienna Philharmonic alongside his father. His brother Andreas is principal clarinetist of the Berlin Philharmonic. The father and sons formed a clarinet ensemble, The Clarinotts. The Clarinotts’ first album appeared in 2009, and their second album in 2016. Ivan Erod composed a triple clarinet concerto for the trio, who premiered the work with the Vienna Philharmonic in January 2016.
