Organized by the Longhua District People’s Court, a nighttime hearing was opened with the pounding of a gavel at 7 p.m. Thursday, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Saturday.

The property dispute was presided over by civil trial judge Li Zhiqing. The court adjusted the time for the hearing so as to facilitate both parties’ participation in the litigation and reduce their inconveniences.

The pillar industries in Longhua are traditional labor-intensive industries, and the district has a large number of migrant workers who usually work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, their working hours coincide with the office hours of the court.

In order to enable more convenient and efficient litigation services, the Longhua court launched a series of nighttime services, such as night court and nighttime mediation, to help settle disputes.
