Shenzhen is stepping up efforts to make public its work in key areas, such as fiscal budget, housing security, special financial funds and public service for talents, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Thursday.

The moves aim to improve the effectiveness of government administration and establish a platform to make government affairs open to the public.

The city is mulling whether to release relevant documents on certain government affairs, such as the approval and implementation of major construction projects, the allocation of public resources, and the improvement of public welfare services.

To accelerate the building of a smart city and a digital government, Shenzhen will further streamline government services and optimize its business environment by providing one-stop services for residents and businesses.

Additionally, the city is also vigorously promoting a unified platform for handling applications for government services, while standardizing the rights and liabilities of administrative institutions.

According to the latest government gazette, Shenzhen will continue to reinforce resource sharing and facilitate public services through multiple channels, including the municipal government’s official website, app, WeChat account and self-service terminals.

Meanwhile, the city will formulate open standards for government data, speed up the integration of hotlines for various kinds of government affairs, and optimize the service system for inquiries and complaints.

It has also been pointed out that policy interpretation should be strengthened. District governments should take the lead in developing an in-depth interpretation of policy background, key tasks and follow-up work, so as to deliver authoritative information and policy intentions in a timely and accurate manner.
