A resident in Bao’an District was fined 200 yuan (US$29) for illegally posting a leasing advertisement on the door of his home, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The man surnamed Liu, who lives near the Shangchuan market in Xin’an Subdistrict, was told by the third squadron of the subdistrict’s law enforcement unit Monday that he should pay a fine of 200 yuan for posting the leasing advertisement on his doorstep, which is in violation of the city’s regulations on urban landscape and environmental sanitation.

Liu was confused about the penalty at first, but removed the advertisement following an explanation of the law enforcement officers.

According to relevant regulations in the city, it is prohibited to post, scribble or inscribe on the walls of buildings and structures, trees, and outdoor facilities like public utilities and pipelines.

A fine of 200 yuan will be imposed on violators.
