A night of Brahms
Violinist Ning Feng and cellist Nie Jiapeng will join hands with Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra to present Brahms’ “Double Concerto in A Minor, Op. 102.” The orchestra will also play the German composer’s “Symphony No. 1.” Italian conductor Daniele Gatti will wield the baton.
Ning has studied at Sichuan Conservatory of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and the Hanns Eisler School of Music and won prizes at the Hannover International Violin Competition, Queen Elisabeth Competition and Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists. He was the first prize winner of the 2005 Michael Hill International Violin Competition (New Zealand) and the Paganini Competition in 2006.
Nie has studied at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore and the Hamburg School of Music and Theater.

He Hui
Chinese soprano He Hui will present a night of classic Western opera songs. Pianist Roberto Corliano and the Verona String Quartet will accompany the show.
She practiced vocals at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music and won second place in the Operalia Competition in 2000 and first place in the Verdi Competition in Busseto Voci Verdiane in 2002. She began as a mezzo-soprano and made her operatic debut in Shanghai in Mozart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte” as Dorabella.
Her first operatic acclaim in Europe came when performing the role of Cio Cio San in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” which celebrated the centenary of the opera’s first performance and was seen throughout Italy.
She was the first Chinese soprano to assume the Verdian role of “Aida” and debuted this role in Vienna (2008), New York (2010) and Chicago (2012). She is also known for singing the title role in Puccini’s opera “Tosca,” which brought her first major breakthrough in European opera houses.
Her operatic repertoire comprises 12 Verdian soprano roles and 12 verismo operatic roles, seven of which belong to Puccini. In 2013, the 200th year of Verdi’s birth, she performed Verdi’s “Requiem” at the Arena di Verona and “Aida” in La Scala.
She also took up Elsa in Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin” in 2013. She was also featured in the 2017-2018 season at the Metropolitan Opera of New York as Cio Cio San in the opera “Madama Butterfly.”
