Thanks to support from an entrepreneur in Longhua District, two sons of a man who fell into a coma after a car accident in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region can continue their college studies, according to the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Qin Shiru is a villager from a remote village in Donglan County, Guangxi. On a night in August, Qin was severely injured in a car accident, and has remained in a coma since.

As the only breadwinner of his family, Qin is supporting his two sons while they are studying at colleges in Guangxi and Changchun in Jilin. Each month, Qin gives each of his two sons 500 yuan (US$72.26).

Now, with their father laying in bed without any income and a huge amount of medical fees, the two brothers are facing obstacles to continuing their studies.

After learning about the difficulties Qin and his family were facing, officials from local governments attempted to help out the family. Donglan County is a poor county that Longhua District has been tasked with helping. Two officials from Longhua are serving in the county to help alleviate poverty.

The two officials from Shenzhen, Sun Jinshui and Chen Yiqiang, learned that Qin’s family is a registered impoverished household in the village. The family lives in a shabby one-story house with little furniture or decoration. Qin’s wife is incapable of working because of illness.

Sun and Chen told the family’s story to an entrepreneur, Ye Weixiong, from Longhua District. Ye is the chairman of the board of Silver Star Group. He decided to support the two sons so they could continue their studies.

Ye’s secretary, Zhang Genguo, arrived at the hospital where Qin is staying Monday and gave 3,000 yuan to Qin’s wife on behalf of Ye. He handed another 3,000 yuan to Qin’s elder son, who had returned to his hometown to take care of his father.

Zhang also transferred 3,000 yuan to Qin’s younger son via WeChat and encouraged the two sons to focus on their studies.
