An exhibition focusing on Guangdong's development over the past 40 years since the reform and opening up started opened to the public at the Shenzhen Contemporary Art Hall yesterday. Covering an area of over 6,300 square meters, thousands of objects related to the reform and opening up, including photos, historical documents, as well as audio and visual items, are on display.

Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the exhibition shows how Guangdong has become a forerunner in promoting high quality growth, building a modernized economy, making new grounds in opening up on all fronts, and establishing a social governance model based on collaboration, participation and common interests. At the exhibition, visitors can also learn how the province became an important window for demonstrating China’s achievements in reform and opening up, a window for the international community to witness China’s achievements in reform and opening up.

Visitors can see iconic items from the last 40 years including China's first gravure printing machine from the 1990s, hair dryer accessories produced by the first manufacturing enterprise in Shenzhen after 1978, and some important reform related literature.

"Many exhibits in the exhibition will be highly recognizable to people from that time and will bring back memories," said Cai Huizhen, deputy director of the Shenzhen Museum. Cai explained that historicity is one major feature of the exhibition.

The exhibition also makes use of advanced technology. A total of 25 OLED displays have been spliced into a huge curved screen to screen the "Damei Guangdong" short film. It is the first time that OLED display technology has been used in a domestic exhibition hall, vividly displaying the beautiful landscape and people of Guangdong.

Visitors can make an appointment to visit the exhibition at www.szggm.com, the official website of the Shenzhen Reform and Opening-Up Exhibition Hall.
