The new venue of Shenzhen Science Museum will be built in the greater airport area in Bao’an District, the city’s political adviser said Thursday at the advisory body’s executive meeting.

The size of the new Shenzhen Science Museum has been reduced from the originally planned 105,000 square meters to between 60,000 and 80,000 square meters, and the preparation for the construction of the new museum is under way, according to Dai Beifang, chairman with the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, who provided an update on the progress of the construction of the new Shenzhen Science Museum.

The current Shenzhen Science Museum is located on Shangbu Road in Futian District. It no longer meets the needs of the residents.

At the meeting, it was also decided to convene the fifth session of the Sixth Shenzhen Committee of the CPPCC on Wednesday. The meeting will last four days. Last year’s session received 660 proposals, of which 579 have been filed and transferred to related government agencies for follow-up.

Regarding the proposals for some key projects, such as the construction of Xili Railway Station, Airport East Station and traffic improvement in the Shuibei-Buxin area in Luohu District, political advisers at city and district levels have been organized to conduct research and push forward the implementation of the plans.

The committee also set up supervision teams to follow up on the progress of some proposals relating to livelihood, such as financial risk controls, talent optimization, cultural relic protection, preschool education, new toilet design and construction, elevator renovation in old residential buildings, and barrier-free city construction.

The committee also organized supervision for medical reform, focusing on community clinic management, information construction, planning and construction of public hospitals, the size of pharmacies for traditional Chinese medicine, and the development of high-end medical institutions. Based on relevant seminars and research, the political advisers formulated 30 pieces of pragmatic and substantial advice on medical reform.
