To ensure traffic efficiency during the Spring Festival Flower Fair at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from Thursday to Feb. 4, cars are required to make reservations to be allowed to park at the exhibition center, according to the Shenzhen Evening News.

“There are a total of 800 parking spaces at the exhibition center with 500 underground and 300 ground-level parking spots available to the public each day,” said Feng Xinyi, deputy director of the traffic police bureau.

Residents can make reservations on their mobile phone through three channels, namely the official WeChat account, “szjjwx,” QR codes for reservations and the official website of the traffic police bureau. Residents will be notified by a text message if they have successfully made a reservation.

Reservation services will be available from 8 a.m. tomorrow. Residents can book a parking spot one day in advance. Each reservations will be valid during a 30-minute time frame between Thursday and Feb. 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., while the hours will be extended to 10 p.m. on Feb. 4. Each car is allowed to park for a maximum of two hours.

Cars should enter the parking lot at the reserved time, or they will not be allowed to enter. Under special circumstances, residents can apply for a 15-minute delay for exiting the parking lot. Otherwise, they will be blacklisted in the credit system.

Residents can cancel their reservations. If a motorist, however, cancels a reservation three times, he/she will not be allowed to make further reservations for this year’s flower fair.

Also, the motorist’s reservation will be calculated along with the city’s other parking reservation activities. Those with three defaults on record will be disqualified from making parking reservations in the city for the rest of the year.

Staff at the bureau encourage residents to use public transport considering the limited supply of parking spaces.

Additionally, organizers are bringing four famous gardens of the Lingnan style to the fair by designing a scenic area featuring the Desirable Garden, the Liang Garden, the Qinhui Garden and the Yunyinshanfang, with various kinds of flowers, such as orchids, peach flowers, daffodils and plum flowers, and decorated with Chinese New Year elements like Spring Festival couplets and Chinese knots, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily said yesterday.
