Tencent launched an exchange program Monday afternoon for students in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Tuesday.

The program plans to invite key enterprises, universities and social institutions in the Greater Bay Area to build an exchange base to help middle-school students expand their horizons and enrich their learning experience, according to the report.

The program is expected to officially start in May and it will be open to students on weekends and during the summer and winter holidays, the report said.

Over 20 enterprises and organizations, including Tencent, New World Development Co. Ltd., Vanke Shenzhen, UBTECH, South University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), Artron Art Center, MINDPARK, NFL and China Cup International Regatta, have joined the program. Other enterprises and organizations are welcome to join.

It is expected that over 10,000 secondary students will participate in the program in the following three years, according to Tencent.

Ma Huateng, CEO of Tencent, suggested encouraging key enterprises and public institutions to provide study and work opportunities for young students during the national annual two sessions last year.

Persons familiar with the matter told the Daily that Tencent will hold open days regularly to introduce youth to advanced scientific and technological achievements like robotics and quantum computing. SUSTech will organize campus tours and workshops for students. CKGSB will launch business lessons for young students to help them cultivate a business mindset. Moreover, MINDPARK will invite creative designers to hold round-table sessions to ignite inspiration and organize different themed workshops.

According to the planning, all students in the Greater Bay Area are eligible to apply for the exchange program. Students can follow the schedule of different activities and book a place according to their interests by registering on Tencent’s official platform.
