The 2018 Bao’an International Marathon has been rated as a gold-medal event by the Chinese Athletics Association.

It is the second year that the organizer of the Bao’an marathon has won the title, according to an annual meeting of the Chinese Athletics Association held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, on Monday.

The 2018 Bao’an International Marathon, held Dec. 30, attracted 20,000 runners from 25 countries and regions. The organizer received a total of 41,267 applications, official figures from the organizer showed.

In addition to the good organization of the running event, the organizer was also praised for the running route design, transport service and commuting guidance. Although some road sections had to be closed to give way to the running event, traffic on the day of the event was not much disrupted, local Chinese-language media reported earlier.

As the closing event of the Run for China series organized by Wise Group, it was live broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV). The organizer’s work was also praised by the Chinese Athletics Association and the higher sports administration authority.

Bao’an District started to organize the marathon in 2016 as a medium to publicize the district’s image and achievements in economic and social undertakings. In its first year, the event attracted 16,000 participants and was recognized as a bronze-medal event. It was upgraded to a gold-medal event in 2017 thanks to the excellent organizational work.
