Creative Week expects to make greater impact

ANA RIO, creative director of Shenzhen Creative Week (SZCW), said the annual creative event is looking forward to having a greater impact in the industry and becoming a gathering for talented industrial and interior designers from home and abroad.

According to Rio, the annual event tries to showcase something new and different every year, despite already having a strong foothold in the industry. “We try to be more creative than others. For me, the activity is not only a fair, it’s an opportunity to promote the city as one that exudes creative energy,” Rio told the Shenzhen Daily on Thursday.

One of the event’s highlights this year is the upgraded International Designer Resources Pavilion, said Rio. Eight groups and 30 world-leading designers from Italy, Switzerland, Finland, France, Belgium, South Korea and other countries will provide insights into design for domestic furniture companies.

“It’s important to bring in global design resources to electrify creativity in the fair,” said Rio. According to her, access to design resources is key for manufacturers, real estate developers and those in need of experienced project specialists, as these designers can take their projects to the next level.

Yann Mathys is an industrial designer from Switzerland and has been impressed by the event. “This is my first visit to Shenzhen, and this whole trip is a big discovery for me,” said Mathys.

“I’ve found that there are a lot of talented designers and excellent design companies here. They’re coming up with many innovative designs that I’ve never seen before,” he said. Mathys said he and his Swiss partners are seeking cooperation with Chinese furniture manufacturers.

Shenzhen Creative Week, which kicked off Tuesday, will wrap up Friday.
