A delegation led by Guo Ziping, head of Bao’an District Government, held trade promotion and exchange events in Istanbul, Turkey, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and Hanover, Germany, between March 26 and April 3.

The events attracted a large number of local companies that are interested in developing trade, investment and technological cooperation with Bao’an, according to the delegation.

The economic and trade delegation consisted of government officials and representatives from major Bao’an-based companies.

Guo told Turkish officials and company executives that more than 600 enterprises in Bao’an have established economic and trade relations with Turkish counterparts, and the industries in Bao’an and Turkey are complementary, which means there is huge potential for deepening cooperation between the two sides. More than 800 companies in Bao’an are trade partners with German counterparts and almost 50 firms on both sides have made direct investments in the other, Guo said while meeting with Hanover officials and company executives.

In addition to trade promotion roadshows, the delegation visited local projects and companies, such as Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai Expo 2020, Dubai South Free Zone, Turkey’s trade associations as well as KOC and Zorlu conglomerates, and the organizer of Hannover Messe.

Local government officials, trade association executives and company executives were impressed by the rapid technological and economic development in Bao’an, and expressed interest in continuing exchange and cooperation with Bao’an.

In Hanover, Bao’an institutions and companies signed cooperation agreements with their counterparts on five projects, including a talent training and technological exchange agreement between Bao’an City College, Jacobs University Bremen and Saxony-Anhalt Engineers Association, and a medical research cooperation agreement between Hanover Medical Management Group and Sino-German (Europe) Industrial Development Cooperation Alliance. Han’s Laser, a major Bao’an-based company, reached a cooperation deal with Germany’s Wittenstein alpha GmbH.

The delegation visited Deutsche Messe, the organizer of Hannover Messe, to tap cooperation opportunities and learn from their expertise in operating conventions and exhibitions. Bao’an is home to the new Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center, which will open later this year, and members of the delegation are eager to draw from the experiences of Deutsche Messe.
