A musical group consisting of singers from China, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Japan won the first prize at the Singing Loud in Shekou Grand Final, the second annual singing competition of Shekou Subdistrict, which concluded Friday.

The competition is part of the Nanshan Pop Music Festival.

The singing group, “South Harmony,” won over the audience with the Chinese song “I Love You, China.”

The annual Nanshan Pop Music Festival is a cultural project that manifests the youth and dynamism of Nanshan. Singing Loud in Shekou was organized by Shekou Subdistrict Office.

To highlight Shekou’s international features in accord with the festival’s theme of youth and dynamism, Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats (MSCE) invited the group of six international students from College of International Exchange, Shenzhen University, to participate in the competition.

The audience was totally absorbed in the group’s singing and performance. The international students’ accurate pronunciation of Chinese and great affection for China amazed the audience. The judges were also attracted by their high level of competence in singing and the genuine emotions that came out in their performance.

MSCE is devoted to promoting communication and exchanges between expat and local residents. It helps expat residents integrate with the community.
