On May 12, several teachers and their pupils from three Guangdong universities will present a vocal concert to celebrate Mother's Day.

Pi Xiaocai, Huang Xiyin, Qu Xiaohan and others from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Art College of South China University of Technology and Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University will sing familiar songs dedicated to moms together with their pupils. The program will include "You Zi Yin" ("A Traveler's Song"), "Red Dragonfly at Sunset" and "Mom in the Candlelight."


Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Teenagers Orchestra


On May 19, the teenagers' orchestra attached to the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will present a concert under the baton of young talent Huang Zulin.

The young musicians will perform "1812 Overture" by Tchaikovsky as well as familiar numbers from "The Phantom of the Opera," "Mamma Mia!" and "The Sound of Music." 


On May 26, established music reviewer Jiao Yuanpu will give a lecture on how to appreciate classical music, focusing on piano works.

Jiao, a Taiwan native, has published volumes of books on classical music, including a collection of interviews with the world most famous contemporary pianists such as Rosalyn Tureck, Krystian Zimerman and Lilya Zilberstein.
