A museum-like showroom on healthy lifestyles will soon be built on the new site of the Bao’an District Hospital for Chronic Disease Control and Prevention, which residents are welcome to visit to learn about how to lead a healthy life.

Bao’an Party chief Yao Ren inspected the district’s public health-care institutions Friday. He first visited the new site of the hospital of chronic disease, requesting all public health institutions to make great efforts to improve medical services.

The showroom on healthy lifestyles is one of the moves the district has taken to raise public awareness around health care that has earned Yao’s recognition.

According to the staff with the hospital of chronic disease, the showroom will serve as an education base where residents can learn medical and life-related knowledge.

During his inspection of the hospital, Yao also stressed the significance of preventing and treating mental illness. Yao said the district government will increase subsidies to assist the families of mentally ill people and work with the public security authority to provide a safe and friendly environment for these patients.

He directed the hospital of chronic disease to enact strict measures and intelligent approaches to control the storage of vaccines in order to keep them safe and effective.

“The prevention of infectious diseases and chronic diseases should be the priority of your daily work,” Yao said to the hospital staff, adding that more efforts should be made to enhance public awareness of staying healthy.

After inspecting the hospital, Yao visited the other public health institutions in the district.

Yao had specific requirements for other issues related to public health care, such as institutional reforms and more effective investment in providing quality medical services for residents in Bao’an.
