The focal points of the design scheme of Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base and some renderings of the design were recently released to the public, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

The new design scheme synthesizes the merits of the three winning proposals that were selected in February, according to the person in charge of the general design.

The overall plan aims to create a new area along the waterfront, which is expected to become a new corporate center in South China after completion.

Three landmark towers will be built in the area to attract major companies to establish headquarters there. In addition to office space, the project will also provide conference facilities and cultural venues.

In order to create an attractive waterfront, designers plan commercial and cultural facilities several meters away from the coast so that residents can enjoy the vibe of Shenzhen Bay in an active urban environment, similar to Sydney, Singapore and Copenhagen.

The designers have also suggested building a series of cultural venues on top of the tallest tower in the area to create an “artistic skyline.”

At the end of 2018, Shenzhen Municipal Housing and Construction Bureau and Shenzhen Investment Holding Co. Ltd. sought designs from around the world. Fifteen design agencies and teams entered the finals, which included contestants from the United States, France, Italy, Spain and Japan.

Shenzhen Cube Architecture Designing Consultants Ltd. in cooperation with Swooding Architects, Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen and Why Art Projects SL were the three winners.

According to a previous announcement, the core area of the project is encircled by Binhai Boulevard, Shenwan Road 1, Shenwan Road 5, Baishi Road 3 and Baishi Road, covering an area of 117 hectares.

Located in the southern coastal area of the OCT, Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base is a core segment of the Tanglang Mountain-OCT-Shenzhen Bay urban functional space axis. It adjoins Shenzhen Bay in the south and overlooks Hong Kong from across the bay, as well as the inner lake wetland of OCT to the north, Sand River Golf Club to the west and OCT Harbor to the east.
