Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents working in Shenzhen can register for unemployment and enjoy public employment services if they are unemployed and meet the criterion, according to an unemployment registration guidance issued recently by Shenzhen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

They can register for unemployment if their situation meets one of the following criteria.

They either paid for unemployment insurance for six consecutive months before becoming unemployed, or they or their employers paid for unemployment insurance for at least one year accumulatively.

If they paid for unemployment insurance for no more than one year, they can register for unemployment and receive the unemployment pension, which is calculated based on the year they worked at the unit.

The unemployed can register for unemployment at a public employment service agency at any subdistrict office in the city.

After registration, they can receive consultation services on employment policies and rules, employment information, salary information, vocational training information, and free job introductions and guidance.
