On July 7, Liu Jingyu of Shanghai A Cappella Center will give a lecture on the form of singing.


Liu Jingyu


Having graduated from Taiwan Normal University, Liu is the artistic director of the Wanted Vocal Band. The bands she has led have won many international singing contests. During the lecture, Liu will share with the audience the various new techniques used in a cappella singing and local band LOOP will perform songs like “Love in a Puff” to demonstrate the skills.


Semitone


On July 14, Semitone, an a cappella group from Zhongshan City, will perform familiar tunes like “Brightest Star in the Night Sky” and “A Crescent Moon.” Formed in early 2015, the members of Semitone are all graduates of musical conservatories. The group has accumulated a rich repertoire and won many singing contests in China.


Chang Xing


On July 21, 17-year-old Chang Xing will collaborate with Deng Yifan to present the piano works of Chopin. A student with the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan, Italy, Chang has won numerous awards in Italy, including the first prize in the classical category at the 27th Cantu International Piano and Orchestra Competition. Deng is a student with the prestigious Eastman School of Music in the United States.


Zhou Ke


On Aug. 4, flutists Zhou Ke and Lu Yunpeng, both students of the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, will collaborate with young pianist Ren Ziming, who is presently studying in Austria, to present a concert. The program will include such classical pieces for the flute as Franz Doppler’s “Andante and Rondo,” Friedrich Kuhlau’s “Trio in G Major” and Huang Huwei’s “The Bright Sun Shines Over the Tianshan Mountains.”
