Three hundred public rental houses in Longhua, Longgang, and Nanshan districts will be opened to qualified families with disabled members for selection July 16.

The selection will last three days through July 19, according to the city’s housing and construction bureau, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

Two of the 300 public rental houses are barrier-free and 298 are typical residential houses, according to the Daily.

During the selection period, families that qualify for the selection should choose their houses according to their place on the waiting list and the corresponding house size.

Only applicants with physical disabilities that are rated as level one or two in families of at least three are qualified to apply for barrier-free housing, but they can also choose to live in typical housing.

Applicants will need to sign a contract and pay a deposit on the same day that they choose their house; otherwise they will be regarded as renouncing their selection, according to the affordable housing authority. They can entrust their co-applicant or guardian to sign the contract if they cannot be present on that day.

According to the bureau, the 300 public rental houses are currently under inspection and will be available for applicants to check starting from July 28. Rent will be charged beginning Aug. 1.
