Animation festival
In its 11th edition, the Shenzhen Cartoon and Animation Festival (SZCAF) is being held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center’s halls 7, 8, and 9 through weekend.
Animation lovers can enjoy cosplay performances, street dance competitions, VR games, gadgets markets and children’s plays, as well as buying desserts in the halls. Japanese voice actresses and singers Yu Serizawa and Riho Iida will visit Hall 8.
Serizawa is a member of the voice acting and singing female idol group iRis. She won the Best Supporting Actress Award with Nao Toyama in the 13th Seiyu Awards. Iida plays one of the main characters in the “Love Live!” anime and game project “Rin Hoshizora.” The success of “Love Live!” contributed to an increase in exposure of her career.

Book fair
Shenzhen Book Fair, the first in the city’s history, will feature 300 booksellers across the country displaying 1 million books.
Dozens of cultural celebrities, including famous Chinese novelists Mai Jia and Chi Li, will give lectures during the fair. Frederic Pierucci, author of “The American Trap,” a best-seller in China, will also attend the fair.
Themed “Reading and Cheering for the Motherland,” the fair is an implementation of the city’s cultural innovation plan for 2020 and part of the 2019 South China Book Festival, a provincial event encouraging people to love reading books.
Hall 1 will be the main venue of the fair. The total area of 30,000 square meters will be divided into sections for classic books, themed publications, parent-children books, culture and creativity publications, and sales exhibitions. Five Shenzhen Book City stores in Luohu, Futian, Nanshan, Bao’an and Longgang districts will serve as subvenues.

Coffee festival
CAFEEX, or the Shenzhen Coffee Festival, will kick off next weekend at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center’s Hall 7.
Tetsu Kasuya will bring his espresso banana shake; Trunk Coffee will demonstrate its Origami dripper; and many more local and international coffee brands and shops will promote their products at the festival.
Visitors who collect six festival stickers can enter a lucky draw and gifts include coffee, manual grinding machines, drippers and thermos cups at the festival.
