Israeli violinist Asi Matathias, the recipient of the 2017 Salon de Virtuosi Career award, will present Vitali’s “Chaconne in G Minor,” Strauss’ “Violin Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 18,” Saint-Saens’ “Violin Sonata in D Minor, Op. 75” and Sarasate’s “Gypsy Airs” in Shenzhen on Friday.


Asi Matathias


Matathias studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in Austria as the youngest student to be enrolled at the university. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Manhattan School of Music in the United States, where he was a longtime student of master Pinchas Zukerman.


At 14, he collaborated with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, displaying a musical maturity and inspiration far beyond his years.
