Meaning:

This Chinese term is translated from the English term Generation Z. Also called Gen Z, it refers to the demographic cohort after the millennials. Demographers and researchers typically use the mid-1990s to mid-2000s as starting birth years. Most of Generation Z have used the Internet since a young age and are comfortable with technology and social media. In 2012, USA Today sponsored an online contest for readers to choose the name of the next generation after the millennials, and the name Generation Z was suggested.

Example:

A: 感觉你们公司从产品设计到广告宣传都比以前时尚了很多。

Gǎnjué nǐmen gōngsī cóng chǎnpǐn shèjì dào guǎnggào xuānchuán dōu bǐ yǐqián shíshàng le hěnduō。

Your product designs and ad campaigns have struck me as much trendier than in the past.

B: 是的,因为我们非常看重Z世代的消费者,这些年轻人自己不一定很有钱,但愿意花钱。

Shì de,yīnwèi wǒmen fēicháng kànzhòng Z shìdài de xiāofèizhě,zhèxiē niánqīngrén zìjǐ bù yīdìng hěn yǒuqián,dàn yuànyì huāqián。

True. That’s because we are focusing on Gen Z as our core consumers. These young people may not have a lot of money on them, but they are ready to spend every penny they have.
