A Shenzhen resident recently published a post online, disapproving of a Metro regulation, which according to him stipulates that riders are not allowed to take more than three mobile phones on Shenzhen Metro.

The Shenzhen Metro operation management office responded that it allows riders to bring up to three batteries that have been removed from mobile phones. However, there is no rule on the number of mobile phones permitted on a train, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The man said in the post that this new rule is only known to the Metro staff and he thinks it is inappropriate.

Staff with the management office told the reporter with the Daily that the restriction is only for single batteries that have been removed from mobile phones, not the ones inside mobile phones.

The regulation therefore might have been misinterpreted by the resident as meaning it is forbidden to carry more than three mobile phones, according to the staff.

Additionally, passengers are only allowed to take up to two portable power banks, and electric bicycle batteries as well as lead-acid batteries are forbidden as they pose a threat to the train’s operation, according to the regulation.
