Lu Jianxin returns to SZ with award. Liu Yujie

Lu Jianxin, a chief engineer in Shenzhen, was awarded as a model of dedication at the Seventh National Moral Model Forum held on Thursday morning in Beijing.

Lu, aged 55, is the chief engineer at Southern China Shenzhen of China Construction Steels Structure Co. Ltd. He started his career in 1982 at the grassroot level as a construction surveyor and climbed to be the leading expert in the field of steel-structured building construction.

When Lu came back to Shenzhen from the awards ceremony Friday, he told the reporter with Shenzhen Economic Daily about the 37 years of his life dedicated to the construction industry. Lu first thought he would do construction surveying for his whole life, because he saw many old construction workers who were serving as carpenters, bricklayers and reinforcing steel bar workers. However, with the more experience he obtained, he found other opportunities in the industry. To persist in the industry for 37 years, Lu said another important factor has been his passion for the job.

Lu hopes to get involved in another landmark project in Shenzhen within five years before he retires. He has already worked on some of Shenzhen’s top buildings, such as International Trade Center Building, Kingkey 100 Building, Ping’an International Finance Center and Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center.

After receiving the award, he will continue to devote himself to his job as a national moral model he said.

During the forum, a total of 58 national moral models were awarded as well as 257 honorary nominations.
