The four-day fair will have four sections, namely the main gallery and spaces for public art, art derivatives, non-profit organizations and an independently curated project by Art Shenzhen.

Art Shenzhen 2019 has attracted around 2,000 modern and contemporary artworks to be presented by 54 famous galleries and other organizers from across the world.

The fresh selection of galleries will provide visitors a high standard art feast. Well-established galleries, such as ShanghART Gallery, Arario Gallery, Galleria Continua, Asia Art Center, Beijing Art Now Gallery, Boers-Li Gallery, Chambers Fine Art, HDM Gallery, Tabula Rasa Gallery and White Stone Gallery, will bring Art Shenzhen 2019 a diverse range of significant artworks that not only construct a contemporary art site but also showcase contemporary social and cultural life.

Meanwhile, outstanding local emerging art organizations from Shenzhen that could be considered as “new faces” to Art Shenzhen, such as LAN-Gallery and SE Gallery, will surely infuse the fair with the power of youth.

Quality contemporary artworks will be displayed in the galleries. “Landscape Totem Pole,” a traditional Chinese painting installation created by the well-known artist Xu Longsen, and “Castle Without Sky,” a large-scale installation created by an emerging artist named Xu Bacheng, will be exhibited in the public art section.

Visitors will see the artworks of numerous celebrated artists, including Cai Guoqiang, Xu Bing, Zhou Chunya, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Giovanni Ozzola.

Several activities will also be held for Art Shenzhen this year, such as public lectures. Organizations like Galaxy Holding Group and UAP will provide visitors with opportunities to acquire professional knowledge and exchange opinions with experts.

Art Shenzhen not only attracts galleries to sign up but also adds a dimension of extensive and in-depth business cooperation. Art Shenzhen is seeking steady development and forward progress to achieve quality and service control while carrying out its mission of “Global Vision, Quality Future” in order to form a contemporary Shenzhen-based art trading platform.

Ye Jianqiang

Ye Jianqiang, vice chairman and secretary-general of the Organizing Committee of Art Shenzhen, said that there are three promising features of Art Shenzhen 2019. Ye said that it’s a rare development opportunity to be seized to strengthen cultural confidence and maximize the advantages under the strategic decision to build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

According to Ye, Art Shenzhen 2019 not only includes old cooperation partners in the well-established galleries but also introduces some “new faces,” like outstanding local emerging art organizations, that will show their persistence in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Ye noted that the third feature is that Art Shenzhen will seize the great opportunity under the blueprint for building a pilot demonstration area. Art Shenzhen will cooperate with Hong Kong and Macao to conduct diverse forms of cultural and art events in order to help the steady upgrade of the regional art market as well as urge the fair to mature into a professional and international platform.

Ye believes that ancient Chinese poetry usually describes autumn as the best time of the year because of the fabulous colors of the leaves and the ripening fruit, and Art Shenzhen 2019 is looking forward to bringing art institutions, artists, collectors, curators, scholars, financial investment organizations, the media and the public a brand new experience and bountiful harvest this golden September.
