Shenzhen will build a headquarters for high-speed rail operation most likely in a preferred location in the central business district of North Railway Station, the Shenzhen transport bureau said.

The headquarters, with a floor space of 181,000 square meters, will be a facility with an office building, railway dispatching center, data center, research center and business center.

It will be a landmark in Longhua District. The operators of the various high-speed rail lines, such as the Xiamen-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, Shenzhen-Maoming High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Link and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, will set up offices in the headquarters.

The centralized operation and management will aggregate railway resources and gather a cluster with 140-billion-yuan (US$19.77 billion) in production volume within five years of completion. As more companies settle in the headquarters, the city will benefit from large increases in industrial business revenue and taxes.

The headquarters base will cover 20,240 square meters of land northwest of the intersection of Liuxian Boulevard and Mintang Road.

The public can give suggestions on the construction of the headquarters by Sept. 16 by calling the Shenzhen transport bureau at 8276-9889 or 8276-2691.
