Shenzhen senior middle schools have enrolled 76,800 new students so far as the admissions period closed recently, basically ensuring all qualified students have a seat for high school education, according to the Daily Sunshine.

The enrollment plan for senior middle school students this year was to serve nearly 78,900 students. The number of qualified students who passed the admission score threshold was 78,300. A total of 76,800 students have been admitted to high schools, achieving a 98.1 percent admission rate, based on the report.

The city has seen a growing number of junior middle school graduates this year. In order to ensure enough school seats, both municipal and district education departments have actively added quality seats within relevant regulations.

As the number of candidates for the senior middle school entrance examination this year was roughly equivalent to the seat limit, relevant departments are offering help to those who failed on their first application to get another chance from other schools.

Additionally, two more senior schools have joined the previous 45 schools this year to reserve some seats to help students studying at less prestigious junior schools get more chances to be enrolled at quality high schools, which has further promoted the balanced development of education resources.

The city has also built a management platform to regulate independent admissions. Seven public schools like Shenzhen Middle School and 15 art and sports schools like Shenzhen Art High School are allowed to conduct independent admissions.

Public and private high schools established the same admissions period and score threshold this year to support private schools and offer conveniences to students.
