Work on the Shenzhen-Jiangmen High-speed Rail, part of the Shenzhen-Maoming High-speed Rail, is expected to start before the end of the year, according to an environment impact report that was released Tuesday to seek public suggestions.

The Shenzhen-Jiangmen section runs 116 kilometers and will be constructed in five and a half years. It will have seven stations, namely Xili, Shenzhen Airport, Binhaiwan, Nansha, Zhongshan North, Henglan and Jiangmen. The Shenzhen-Nansha section is designed to run at 200 kilometers per hour, while the Nansha-Jiangmen section is designed to run at 250 kilometers per hour.

It covers Nanshan and Bao’an districts in Shenzhen, Humen and Chang’an townships and Binhaiwan New Area in Dongguan, Nansha District in Guangzhou, six townships in Zhongshan and Jianghai District in Jiangmen.

The Shenzhen-Maoming High-speed Rail is part of China’s coastal high-speed rail. The construction of the Shenzhen-Maoming rail was divided into the Jiangmen-Maoming section and the Shenzhen-Jiangmen section.

As a transport hub from Shenzhen-Ganzhou High-speed Rail and Shenzhen-Maoming High-speed Rail, Xili Station will set up 12 platforms with 24 rail lines.

The Jiangmen-Maoming section began operation in May last year. It starts at the Xinhui Railway Station in Jiangmen, passing through Yangjiang and Maoming. The new rail line brings western Guangdong residents closer to the Pearl River Delta. Not only is it essential to the regional transport network, but it will also contribute to the coordinated development of Guangdong Province.
