Meaning:

“客” means “clients,” “单” means “single,” and “价” means “sum.” This term is the translation of the English phrase average transaction value (ATV), a key performance indicator for retail businesses, online or offline. The average transaction value is calculated by dividing the total value of all transactions by the number of transactions or sales. This can be calculated on a daily, monthly or annual basis.

Example:

A: 为什么同样的品牌,他们店的客单价比我们店高很多?

Wèishénme tóngyàng de pǐnpái,tāmen diàn de kèdānjià bǐ wǒmen diàn gāo hěnduō?

We are selling the same stuff from the same brand. How come their shop often records a much higher average transaction value than ours?

B: 因为他们店设在高档小区旁边,那里的顾客花钱更大方。

Yīn wèi tāmen diàn shè zài gāodàng xiǎoqū pángbiān,nàlǐ de gùkè huāqián gèng dàfāng。

Because their shop is near an high-end housing estate, and the clients there splash out on stuff more willingly.
