With both international and Chinese crew on board, ChinaOne Ningbo was one of the most competitive fleets at the 13th China Cup International Regatta, which was held from Nov. 6 to 13 at Shenzhen's Daya Bay.

Teamed up by sailors from Ningbo Wanboo Fish Yacht Club of the Zhejiang Province Water Sports Center, the fleet race on the One Design Beneteau First 40.7 Class boats under the name "Camellia – ChinaOne Ningbo Sailing" in the competition.

After 5 days of battling, the team was won the fourth place.

Mao hui, a sailor with the Zhejiang Province Water Sports Center, said: "Through competing in the matches side by side with international sailors, I took close observation of their skills and movements, which was more intuitive than watching videos of international sailing race. I enjoyed watching them adjust the boat and take advantages of wind and tension."

"60 percent of the crew numbers are Chinese this time. It's a big change for us. We want to upskill the local sailing communities, particularly those in Ningbo," according to Craig Monk, CEO of ChinaOne Ningbo. He also stated that Chinese sailors are very keen on learning. Over a week, the sailors have better understood how to prepare for an international regatta event and how to run a campaign.

ChinaOne Ningbo's global brand ambassador Hu Bing arrived at the venue of the China Cup International Regatta to cheer for the fleet. Hu went on board and took the skipper's role: “ChinaOne Ningbo not only brings sailing in China to a higher level, but also fosters Chinese professional sailors.”As his father was from Ningbo, Hu found connections between ChinaOne Ningbo and himself.

ChinaOne Ningbo, representing Ningbo City in Zhejiang Province of eastern China, is a top Chinese professional sailing team and has won two consecutive the M32 World Championships in 2017 and 2018. The team was led by Craig Monk, a former America Cup winner.
