Shenzhen police unveiled the detailed fine plan for five types of traffic violations including driving e-bikes under the influence of alcohol and using fake, duplicated plates and licenses.

The new rules took effect Thursday.

If caught driving an e-bike under the influence of alcohol, according to Zeng Quan, a legislative affairs officer of the Shenzhen traffic police bureau, drivers will be fined 500 yuan (US$71) if blood alcohol content is found to be more than 20 milligrams and lower than 80 milligrams per 100 millimeters. If the violator has committed additional violations, such as driving against traffic lights, in the wrong direction or entering motorist lanes, the fine will be doubled to 1,000 yuan.

If caught for the second time and blood alcohol content is found to be higher than 80 milligrams per 100 milliliters, the driver will be criminally liable for driving by dangerous means. If blood alcohol content is found to be less than 80 milligrams per 100 millimeters, the driver will be fined 2,000 yuan.

Regarding illegal parking, if found parking on a flyover, elevated bridge, one-lane road or busy road, the driver will be fined 500 yuan.

If found parking vehicles at restricted areas or a pedestrian crossing, the fine will be doubled to 1,000 yuan. If the violation causes congestion, the fine will be increased to 2,000 yuan.

If the driver has obtained license plates from authorities but is caught using a forged copy of authentic plates, the driver will be fined 5,000 yuan.

The fine will be doubled to 10,000 yuan if the driver is caught using fabricated license plates or more than two forged license plates.

If the driver uses duplicated license plates attributed to other drivers or causes a traffic accident while driving on a forged license plate, the fine will be increased to 20,000 yuan.
