The 2nd Sino-French SciFi-Fantasy Forum, themed “Creation and Development of Sino-French Science Fiction Art,” was held at Shenzhen University on Tuesday, marking the start of the 2nd Season of the Chinese and French Artists Exchange Program.

The program organized by Shekou Subdistrict Office, Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats and Science and Fantasy Growth Foundation aims to promote communication and exchange about the Chinese and French cultures by inviting writers and artists to interact with the fans of science fiction art in Shenzhen.

In the second season, various activities including a Sino-French SciFi-Fantasy Forum, Chinese and French Science Fiction Movies Week, Seminar on International Protocol and Manners and Shenzhen Bay Cruise will be held to promote the community life of both local and expatriate residents.

The forum started with a speech by Huang Hongfu, deputy director of Shekou Subdistrict Office. French playwright Guillaume Lavenant, French artist Eric Sagot, Chinese writer Wang Nuonuo and Chinese computer graphic artist Lin Tian were invited to share their insights into science fiction art and their creative experiences. To demonstrate his experience with science fiction creation, Lin displayed one scene in his hometown that inspired him to produce one of his artworks.

When asked by an audience member if there would be more possibilities to create more and further communication between science fiction writers and artists so that the two fields could collaborate to produce more fantastic works, the guest artists and writers said that it is true that the two circles have few interactions and exchanges, and Lin said it would be great if the organizers of this event created more chances for their cooperation and further exchange.
