About 3,500 jobseekers attended a job fair exclusively for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals at the gymnasium of the Xili campus of Shenzhen University on Sunday, southcn.com reported yesterday.

A record 5,873 job openings were offered by more than 60 medical institutions in Shenzhen at the recruitment event, which was organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission.

Since Oct. 27, employers have received a total of 70,494 resumes, including 33,666 e-resumes collected online and 36,828 collected on site, an increase of 135 percent over the same period last year.

Among the candidates, 3,394 hold doctoral degrees, 43,867 have master’s degrees and 23,233 have bachelor’s degrees or below.

Some employers said that the number of resumes received this year increased by about 40 percent compared with last year, and most of the jobseekers hold master’s degrees, according to news report.

In addition to recruiting medical personnel with clinical, medical, nursing and other health-care expertise, there was also a great demand for traditional Chinese medicine, stomatology, public health, pharmacy, information technology and health management professionals at the job fair.

In order to get more medical talents to hear about Shenzhen, the city arranged for over 60 medical institutions to carry out recruitment activities in 12 cities, namely Beijing, Chengdu, Kunming, Taiyuan, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Harbin, Shenyang, Dalian, Chongqing and Guangzhou.

“The job fair was more popular than expected, indicating that the career opportunities in Shenzhen’s health-care sector have been widely recognized by college graduates, and Shenzhen’s development and talent policies are also very advantageous,” said Cao Jing with Peking University.

In terms of recruitment positions, municipal public hospitals are generally favored by jobseekers. Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, for instance, received 420 resumes from Ph.D. holders. Futian District offered 89 positions for general practitioners and attracted 336 applicants.

This year, Pingshan Medical Group offered 149 positions and has received more than 1,500 resumes so far, more than twice the number from last year. Seventy percent of the applicants possess a master’s degree or above.

Each recruitment unit will make its admissions list public on its official website, or that of its superior administrative department, before Jan. 15, 2020.
