Consultative committee to provide intellectual support for digital economy development

The Qianhai Science & Technology Innovation Expert Consultative Committee, which was officially formed Dec. 6 at 2019 Qianhai World Digital Forum, aiming to offer professional guidance for the development of digital economy in Qianhai as well as in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). 

At an appointment ceremony Dec.6, 25 experts in fields of science and technology were invited by the Authority of Qianhai to team up as a panel, helping the area and the GBA in further developing the high-tech industry. 

Among them, seven people are fellow scholars of institutes from home and aboard. Six experts are based in Hong Kong and Macao and two are expat members. 

Yang Xueshan, professor of Peking University and former vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Guo Renzhong, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Liu Duo, president of China Aademy of Information and Communication Technology, Fan Jianping, president of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology,Chinese Academy of Sciences, are appointed as chairmen of the committee. 

“We hope the committee can help Qianhai build a mechanism for scientific development, which will promote the better development of the area,” said Tian Fu, director of the Authority of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qianhai & Shekou Area. 

“The studies of the experts covers the new generation of information technology, digital economy, science and technology services, financial investment, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, artificial intelligence, biological medicine, block chain, big data, smart city and digital cultural creativity, which will promote the science and technology development in Qianhai,” said Ni Yong, vice director of the Authority of Qianhai. 

Ni said the committee has three main functions, namely to provide top-level planning consultation for Qianhai, to provide expert advice for industrial development, including the transformation of achievements and industrial selection, and to provide expert advice on activities and personnel training.
