The 2019 APEC SME Business Forum will be held Tuesday to Thursday in Shenzhen, bringing together guests from 10 APEC member countries, enterprise representatives and scholars from business sectors to share ideas on regional cooperation, technological innovation, industry and finance matching and the digital economy.

This is the second time that the forum, organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Government, China Center for Promotion of SME Development, China International Cooperation Association of SMEs and China Private Economy Association, will be held in the city.

Through the main forum and three parallel forums, nearly 800 representatives will explore the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the role of fintech in SMEs and 5G for SMEs.

“The forums cover hot topics like 5G, AI, intelligent manufacturing, big data and fintech, which are helpful for the growth of SMEs,” Jia Xingdong, director of the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Bureau, said at the news conference Thursday.

Besides forums, the organizers will select 16 Shenzhen enterprises to show the latest technologies and products in the 5G, AI, intelligent manufacturing, big data and fintech sectors, and organize tours in Shenzhen Bay Science and Technology Park and visits to CSST Robot Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen Appotronics Co. Ltd., two of the fastest-growing enterprises and leaders in the segmented markets.

“Through the display activity, the representatives will learn about advanced technologies for facial payment, laser projection, underwater video-graphing, 3-D sensors and robots for logistics,” Jia said.

By the end of September, Shenzhen had a total of 1.97 million registered SMEs, accounting for 99.6 percent of the city’s total enterprises.
