Cooperation zone marks anniversary

Yesterday marked the first anniversary of the inauguration of the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone. A conference was held at the administration committee of the cooperation zone to review the achievements made over the past year.

At the conference, Wu Qubo, vice director of the administration committee of the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, said that over the past year, the cooperation zone focused on project construction, which boosted the zone’s real economy development.

As of the end of November, the zone had provided land parcels for 89 industrial projects, among which 82 are from Shenzhen, with an expected total investment of 49 billion yuan (US$7 billion).

Main building construction in the cooperation zone has been completed for major projects, such as Shenshan Bay Robot Town and Shenshan Bay Science and Technology Town.

The livelihood projects have also made significant progress.

Shenshan High School Town has selected its site, which covers an area of about 75 hectares. The primary and middle school will open enrollment in 2020.

Peking University Shenzhen Hospital Clinic opened for business in June, and construction has started on Peking University Shenzhen Hospital Shenshan Branch.

Some 1,000 housing units have been put into use, 10,549 low-rent housing units are under construction and more than 60,000 low-rent housing units are expected to start construction soon.

Additionally, four theme parks are under construction, two four-star hotels have been put into service and two five-star hotels are in the decoration stage.

The zone also made major achievements regarding transportation construction. Two 100,000-ton docks and a 50,000-ton dock are under construction.

The construction of major transportation facilities, such as Shenshan West Expressway, Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway and Shenshan High-speed Railway Station are progressing steadily.

Planning has been finished for 104 roads and road segments, which will be constructed in stages.

At present, 28 roads have been put into service, with a total length of about 74 kilometers and a total investment of about 3.4 billion yuan.
