An overall 67 percent of interviewees said that they would buy 5G network-supported mobile phones and 16 percent of interviewees suggested that they would consider 5G technology for their next phones, according to a connectivity and mobile trends survey conducted by Deloitte.

A shopping guide at a Suning store in Shenzhen told the reporter with Shenzhen Economic Daily that compared to 5G phones, 4G phones have bigger discounts.

A store manager at the flagship store of OPPO Shenzhen said that the price for OPPO Reno 2Z had dropped to 2,099 yuan (US$301.3).

Wu Qiang, who is in charge of OPPO’s overseas business, said the market share of 4G phones will decrease step by step.

Since the second half of 2019, many mobile phone brand retailers, such as Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and Honor, have started destocking 4G phones in order to embrace the 5G era.

However, there are still consumers who think that the price of 5G phones is relatively high, as are the package costs. Additionally, they are concerned that 5G phones might not offer 5G speed, making 4G phones remain as their first choice, based on the report.
