Transport guide for Lunar New Year released

The Municipal Transport Bureau released a travel guide for the approaching Chinese New Year on Sunday. OCT Harbor, Window of the World and Happy Valley will see the most visitors during the holiday, according to the report.
The transport bureau said that traffic jams might occur on Shennan Boulevard (from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. eastbound) and Baishi Road (from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. eastbound).
The number of visitors per hour at Happy Valley on Jan. 24, the Chinese New Year’s Eve, will be the same as on a weekend, while the figure from Jan. 25 to 27 is expected to be 2.4 times as high as that on a weekend.
There will be 1.6 to 1.7 times more passengers at OCT Harbor per hour from Jan. 25 to 30. The site will see a passenger flow peak each day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Citizens planning to visit OCT East, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches are advised to hit the road on the first or last day of the Spring Festival holiday.
The number of visitors per hour at OCT East on Jan. 24 will be 1.9 times as high as that on a weekend, while the number on Jan. 30 will be 2.9 times. And the figure from Jan. 25 to 29 will be expected to be 4.5 times as high as that on a weekend.
The transport bureau expects that the peak at OCT East will arrive between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. each day during the holiday.
Traffic congestion surrounding OCT East, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches will appear on Shenyan Road, Huanmei Road, Yihai Road, Yanba Expressway, Yanmei Road and Shenkui Road.
Futian Central Business District, and areas near the International Trade Building and Dongmen commercial street in Luohu will generally see a decrease in the number of visitors during the Spring Festival holiday compared to the weekend, predicts the transport bureau.
Visitor peaks in the areas surrounding the International Trade Building and Dongmen commercial street will appear between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day, according to the report.
The transport authority suggests that the parking lots surrounding One Palace, the commercial facility where the 2020 Shenzhen Spring Festival Flower Fair is being held, be made unavailable to private vehicles. Thus, citizens are encouraged to choose green transport.
