Meaning:

“展示” means “on display,” and “面” means “side.” This term coined by Chinese netizens refers to the side of their life a person wants others to see, mostly presented by photos, videos and other posts on their social media account. The term often appears in the context of a man trying to woo a woman and deliberately presenting his best sides, which may not be entirely true. Most times, people pose when they take photos, or even hire companies to get good shots.

Example:

A: 为什么我对一个女生那么好,她还是不同意当我女朋友?

Wèishénme wǒ duì yīgè nǚshēng nàme hǎo,tā háishì bù tóngyì dāng wǒ nǚpéngyou?

I’ve been super nice to a girl, but she still hasn’t agreed to be my girlfriend. Why?

B: 你应该建设一下展示面。她如果发现你有品味有魅力,情况就不一样了。比如晒一晒健身、旅游、买艺术品、烹饪美食。

Nǐ yīnggāi jiànshè yīxià zhǎnshìmiàn。Tā rúguǒ fāxiàn nǐ yǒu pǐnwèi yǒu mèilì,qíngkuàng jiù bù yīyàng le。Bǐrú shàiyīshài jiànshēn、lǚyóu、mǎi yìshùpǐn、pēngrèn měishí。

You might as well manage your “side on display” on social media. Things will be different if she finds out that you are charming and have a good taste. For example, you can post photos of working out in the gym, traveling, buying artwork and cooking like a chef.
