SZ confirms one more imported COVID-19 case with total cases rising to 440

Shenzhen confirmed 1 new imported COVID-19 case on Mar. 23, adding the number of imported cases in the city to 23, according to the latest figures released by the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality today.

Case 23, a 32-year-old male of Chinese nationality, returned to China from the United States. He flew from Los Angeles to Hong Kong on Mar. 16, and returned to his residence in Hong Kong after arrival. From Mar. 17 to 22, he worked in Hong Kong. He entered the Chinese mainland via Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint on Mar. 22, and his body temperature was 37.4℃ upon entry and 37.8℃ upon second check. He was sent to a designated quarantine point by a designated vehicle after sampling by the customs for he reportinged his history of residence in the United States and symptoms including muscular soreness. Preliminary nucleic acid test results released on Mar. 22 and reviewed results released on Mar. 23 were both positive. 

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. Preliminary tracing results show that no person on the Chinese mainland has had close contact with the patient.

As of Mar. 23, Shenzhen has confirmed a total of 440 COVID-19 cases. Another 1 patient was discharged from hospital the same day. Of the confirmed cases, 213 are male and 227 are female.

So far, 414 have been discharged from hospital, and 3 deaths have been reported.

All 23 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No. 3 People's Hospital. 234 persons in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
