SZ confirms two more imported COVID-19 cases with total rising to 443

Shenzhen confirmed 2 new imported COVID-19 cases on Mar. 25, adding the number of imported cases in the city to 26, according to the latest figures released by the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality today.

Case 25, a 22-year-old male of Chinese nationality studying in the United States, returned to China from the United States. He flew from New York to Guangzhou on flight CZ300 on Mar. 22, entered the Chinese mainland via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Mar. 23, and was later sent to a designated quarantine point by a designated vehicle. His temperature upon entry was within the normal range. Preliminary nucleic acid test results released on Mar. 24 and reviewed results released on Mar. 25 were both positive. 

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 37 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been traced to have had close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation.

Case 26, a 34-year-old male of French nationality working in Shenzhen, returned to China from France. He flew from Paris to Hong Kong on flight AF188 on Mar. 1, and entered the Chinese mainland via Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint on Mar. 2. His body temperature upon entry was within the normal range, and no abnormalities were found in his health status declaration information. He began to feel unwell on Mar. 11. His 14-day quarantine ended on Mar. 17. On Mar. 23, he went to Peking University Shenzhen Hospital for medical consultation. CT imaging showed shadow in both apexes of his lungs. Preliminary nucleic acid test results released on Mar. 24 and reviewed results released on Mar. 25 were both positive.

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 30 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been traced to have had close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation.

As of Mar. 25, Shenzhen has confirmed a total of 443 COVID-19 cases. Another 1 patient was discharged from hospital the same day. Of the confirmed cases, 216 are male and 227 are female.

So far, 415 have been discharged from hospital, and 3 deaths have been reported.

All 25 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No. 3 People's Hospital. 293 persons in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
