The Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau and Municipal Health Commission jointly released a notice Wednesday requiring schools to put preventative measures in place before reopening campuses to ensure safety and to collect teacher and student health information beforehand.

The notice urged schools to roll out back-to-school plans before the provincial authority confirmed an official restart date. Students of grades 9 and 12 are expected to make the return to school first.

Schools can permit faculties and students who have not visited a place hard-hit by COVID-19 over the past 14 days and who are in good health to return, according to the notice.

Schools should meet all preventative requirements set up by the authority before reopening to students. Relevant departments will be tasked with inspecting each school.

After opening, schools will enact closed management and carry out strict health checks. Events and social activities are not allowed.

At present, schools in Guangdong are still conducting online teaching.
